Commercial Solicitor - Data Protection
Following an increase in instructions and client demand for secondment support we have a fantastic opportunity to work with our Commercial Team for a period of 6 months.
There is a strong chance of the role becoming permanent if all goes well in the contract but, equally, we're happy to see applications from Commercial Solicitors with Data Protection experience who are only interested in a fixed term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team in an area of increasing legal prominence.
You will be an Associate within the Data Protection & Privacy team reporting to Alison Deighton. As an experienced Data Protection and Privacy Solicitor you can expect to deliver the following:
- Advice on data protection and privacy matters to existing and new clients in all areas as described above;
- Assisting with business development activities in order to win new clients for TLT and to win data protection work from existing TLT clients – this will involve attending and speaking at conferences, writing articles as well as cementing existing relationships.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be immediately available or available at short notice.
Previous hands-on experience of advising on and leading data protection projects is a key requirement, including experience of advising on international data transfers, drafting privacy policies, procedures and notices, negotiating and drafting data processor agreements, conducting audits and delivering training and advising on marketing issues.
Previous experience of working in a financial services sector and regulatory environment will be welcome but is not essential.
Professional certifications such as IAPP CIPP/E and CIPM are desired.
An awareness of and good understanding of upcoming regulatory changes in the data protection sphere is expected.
You will need excellent communication and self-management skills.
