Contract Lawyer - Banking
Job Introduction
We have an immediate need for a Contract Lawyer - Banking/Financial Services for a 12 month contract. You will be working with a large Banking Group to support the Legal team and provide day to day legal coverage to the business which is responsible for Digital Banking (mobile and online), voice channels and the bank branch network.. The successful candidate will join our contractor resource pool but will be instantly allocated to this work stream in line with the demands of the project. Please note this is a day rate contract.
Role Responsibility
The main duties will include:
• Advice and support on innovative financial technologies.
• Advice on third party strategic initiatives/propositions that touch one or all of the channels
• Collaborating with other product coverage teams within the bank and other legal functions, particularly Data Protection, Intellectual Property and Commercial, Innovation and Technology
• Acting as a trusted advisor and delivering legal advice in relation to the legal framework governing the digital distribution and servicing of banking products
• Proactively identifying and advising on legal and regulatory risks, escalating these as necessary to stakeholders and assist with recommending and implementing solutions
• Attending governance and risk forums as a key advisory stakeholder to help steer the business, issue spot and drive operational efficiency
• Providing support in relation to other matters being worked on by the Legal team where necessary, including regulatory change impacting businesses and structural reform
The Ideal Candidate
- A qualified solicitor or barrister in any jurisdiction
- 2PQ to 8PQE
- Legal experience ideally gained within Banking or Fin Services
- Experience in any of the following areas would be helpful:
- Commercial/Technology
- Retail financial services regulation
- Data protection
