The Family Team forms part of TLT’s Private Business Group which also includes the Private Client Team. The Private Business Group is led by Patrick Wooddisse, Partner.
This position will be reporting to our Partner and Head of Family. The current team comprises 1 Partner, 1 Legal Director, 1 Associate and a Solicitor.
The Family team handles a range of work including high net worth financial proceedings, divorce and civil partnership dissolution, cohabitation, private law children matters and domestic abuse.
The team is recognised within the Legal 500 as a Tier 1 team and in Chambers and Partners as a tier 2 firm and described as “thorough and conscientious, providing an impressive service for a range of clients, “very capable and commercially astute” and as “strongly recommended for the most complex and difficult cases in any area of family work, including international cases and multi-million high net worth clients”.
The team generates high quality work through internal referrals and as well as through recommendations from clients and a strong network of external referrers. A strong emphasis is placed on business development at every level. Two members of the team are involved at a national level with Resolution and are keen to promote the ethos of Resolution within the team's practice. Clients are based nationally and internationally.

Once you are in the role of Family Associate,
- Dealing with Divorce, Dissolution, Domestic Abuse, Cohabitation, Pre-nuptial , Private Law Children and complex Financial cases; the latter often involving international elements, business clients, companies, partnerships, trusts, pensions and property issues
- You will be expected to continue to build relationships with professional referrers, to further develop business as well as taking an active role as generating new business for the team as a whole
- There is also an expectation that you will undertake a level of supervision of more junior staff when required.
The Ideal Candidate

- A qualified Associate with ideally 5+ years PQE and sound technical skills
- Gained experience at an established regional firm and will have some advocacy experience as well as being a member of Resolution
- Experienced in the areas of Divorce, Dissolution, Domestic Abuse, Cohabitation, Pre-nuptial, Private Law Children and complex Financial cases.
