IT Trainer

Job Introduction

The IT Training Team is part of TLT's wider Information Technology team.  We are responsible for the delivery of training of all of our IT systems to all employees and new starters within the Firm.  This could be by any means including classroom, webinar or eLearning.  We also write and manage a number of eLearning modules that are both IT and non-IT related.  We are involved in all IT projects in an advisory capacity and to schedule and deploy the rollout of training for new applications.  The team currently has 3 FTE IT Trainers and an IT Training Manager. 

 

The wider IT team has around 40 employees who are responsible for the ongoing support and improvement to IT's offering to the Firm.

 

As an IT Trainer you will be required to deliver classroom training to delegates across all TLT sites, including Bristol, London, Manchester, Belfast, Glasgow and Edinburgh.  We currently have two IT training rooms in Bristol, a single room in London and Glasgow and "pop-up" facilities in Manchester and Belfast.  We also utilise Webinar technology to deliver training to those in remote locations to reduce the cost of delivering training and to make it more accessible

Role Responsibility

The training that we provide is a mixture of TLT's bespoke applications that have been developed in-house along with off-the-shelf applications, such as Microsoft Office.  Our training combines the general usage of applications along with TLT's own procedures and policies when using our systems.

 

We also produce the user manuals, video demos, eLearning modules and other supporting documentation for all of our applications.  These are all stored on TLT's intranet and we have the responsibility of managing our site on the intranet using Microsoft SharePoint.

 

The IT Training Team is heavily involved in the project work within the firm.  We are represented on all IT project teams to assist with background information relating to current user working practices along with designing and implementing firm-wide roll-out plans for new and/or upgraded applications.

 

We maintain a record of all training needs for the firm which are established through a variety of means, such as new starter induction requirements, performance reviews, ad-hoc requests and project implementation.  We manage our own IT Training calendar to schedule all of our courses.  All of our records are fed back to the Learning & Development team to ensure an accurate training record of all employees is maintained.

 

We are involved in supporting users with IT related issues that occur from a lack of understanding or knowledge of how to use software, these issues will be escalated from the Service Desk and are identified through Trend Analysis from the Service Desk support calls.

 

As a member of the IT Training Team, you would be involved in all of these activities.

Your qualifications:

 

Experience of delivering IT Training in a classroom is essential for this role.  Formal training qualifications are desirable (in particular CIPD, TAP and MOS) but we encourage applications from anyone who can demonstrate equivalent experience.

Application skills and experience 

 

You must have an in-depth understanding of Microsoft Office 2010 however experience of Microsoft Office 2013 or 2016 would be a distinct advantage.

 

Previous experience of eLearning authoring, particularly using Adobe Captivate, would be an advantage.

 

Additionally, knowledge of the following software would is desirable:

 

•           SOS Connect and/or Practice Manager

•           SolCase or other business process application

•           Interwoven/iManage or other document management system

•           Interaction or other client relationship manager application

•           BigHand Dictation or other digital dictation application

•           QlikView or similar financial reporting application
