Senior Procurement Consultant

Job Introduction

The role will provide exposure to a broad and varied range of procurement consultancy work across the public sector on a national basis to include central government departments, police forces, local authorities, nuclear site license companies, defence and non departmental public bodies/charities.  A vacancy has arisen in our team due to the ongoing expansion of our busy practice.



Role Responsibility

The candidate will be working with and supporting clients such as:

  • Central government departments
  • Non department public bodies
  • Local authorties
  • Nuclear site licence companies
  • Private and third sector organisations providing services into the public sector

The type of work and projects that the candidate will work on is broad and scope and will involve advising on:

  • Public sector procurement design, compliance, evaluation and moderation;
  • Major public sector projects;
  • Practical application of service level design and performance regimes (SLA & KPI);
  • Advising on practical application of public contracts regulations;
  • Compliance audits, procurement risk appraisals.

The Ideal Candidate

  • MCIPS / FCIPS (or equivalent) preferred.  5+ years PQE with the requisite skills and experience gained within consultancy, contracting or the public sector.  Applicants with appropriate experience outside this PQE range will also be considered;
  • Previous experience of working with or within the public sector on procurement matters essential.  Experience in a commercial/procurement consultancy, compliance or advisory role preferred;
  • Consultancy experience with or within the public sector on procurement matters is essential;
  • Experience of large scale, complex regulated procurements (eg. Infrastructure, construction, estates, IT) using the CD/CPN and/or IP procedures is essential;
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of advising on the public procurement regulations (PCR, UCR and/or DSPCR) is essential.  Specific and detailed examples must be included in detail within your application.
  • Practical and commercial approach;
  • Excellent drafting and analytical skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team 
  • Ability to liaise effectively with clients 
  • Ability to support on business development and tender/bid experience;
  • A natural curiosity for work and a strong appetite to build a career advising on matters in the public sector 
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional approach to work
  • Team player with a keen, client-focused approach. 
  • Flexibility to advise on a broad portfolio of work
  • Experience of working at a large regional/national consultancy or law firm on public sector matters or in the public sector would be beneficial.
