Team Manager - Banking Litigation

Job Introduction

We are now recruiting for a Team Manager to join our Banking Litigation team in Bristol. As a team Manager you will be reporting into the Assistant Operations Manager. You will have responsibility for a team of approximately 20 Case Handlers and Office Assistants.

Role Responsibility

As a Team Manager your day to day remit includes:

  • Managing the caseload of a team and ensuring work is carried out effectively, efficiently and within relevant service standards.  The Manager will also actively contribute towards and support the efforts and objectives of the wider team and actively develop good client relationships.

Management of work

  • Meeting and seeking to exceed client and TLT expectations by actively managing work levels, quality and resources within the team.
  • Routinely monitoring working methods to identify inefficiencies and areas of risk.  Taking steps to implement appropriate improvements (considering relevance and impact on wider team).
  • Holding regular team meetings ensuring that the team are kept informed of relevant developments and their team's progress and performance.
  • Using various management tools and methods, managing work quality, policy compliance and service standards, including  MI, league tables, audits.

Development of others

  • Ensuring supervision meetings and appraisals are conducted.  Working with Team Coaches to actively manage and improve staff related issues, e.g. poor performance, sickness, absence levels.
  • Developing talent within team by identifying individuals' potential and actively supporting them through delegation, coaching, mentoring and training.
  • Actively promoting the TLT Way

Management responsibility

  • Meeting regularly with the Assistant Operations Manager, to discuss team performance.
  • Attending and contributing to management meetings, including actively supporting resourcing requirements.
  • Supporting team with technical and day-to-day queries
  • Leading committees, projects and initiatives
  • Embedding TCF within the culture
  • Supporting other Team Managers and colleagues
  • Any other duties as required to ensure that the team achieves its objective

Client Management, Knowledge & Reporting

  • Pro-actively building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, through actively engaging with clients on a day to day basis, understanding clients' business objectives and working methods, responding to and, where possible, anticipating  clients' requirements.  Also actively contributing to conference calls, review meetings and social events.
  • Actively monitor MI , identify patterns/trends and discuss findings with client and provide solutions to any issues identified.
  • Providing training and support to clients to assist in the development of their businesses and processes.

  • Good technical proficiency
  • Clear understanding of a range of technical repossession issues and solutions
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good letter writing ability, including writing non-standard letters
  • Ability to communicate clearly issues to the client
  • An awareness of the commercial concerns of clients
  • Experience of working within a volume caseload environment
  • Confident managing multiple cases simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a strict regulatory environment
  • People management/supervisory experience would be advantageous
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively to meet deadlines and work to SLAs
  • Ability to delegate confidently and effectively
  • Excellent team player
  • Methodical approach to work
